Miss West caught Helen going through the teacher's desk – a serious offense – and she lets Helen know there will be swift and severe punishment.

Hands on her head, Helen's eyes widen when Miss West comes back into the room holding a cane. Harder and harder, the secretary canes the scheming student mercilessly, swinging the reed in the air between strokes just to frighten the poor girl even more. Sent back to the corner, Helen's poor bottom is quite a sight, bruised and covered in angry raised stripes, and Miss West cannot help but smile as she admires her handiwork.
