It is end of term, but there are still some issues to be solved. Cathrine, Charlotte, Jane, and Susie will be spending holiday as holdovers, and subjected to punishment until they learn to study properly.

Susie makes another attempt at spelling, and fails just as badly as the others. MIss Mathews is dismayed, but hardly surprised. The lazy schoolgirl kneels on the chair, hands down on the floor, and presents her sore bottom for the teacher's strap. Miss Mathews wastes no time taking this errant student to task, reddening her bottom with a stiff, hard strapping.
